About the event
The EWHS Freshman health classes will have the opportunity to learn how to recognize the signs of an overdose, properly administer Narcan, and potentially save a life. This hands-on demonstration will be lead by Chief Roode, Chief of the East Windsor Ambulance Association. His first-hand experience in the community and medical background will equip students with the tools to respond safely in an emergency situation. Heroes aren't born; they're trained.
Prior to the training, students will get the chance to hear from a mentor with lived experience. Cameron Breen is a Harm Reduction Specialist for the organization Liberations Program Inc., a nonprofit behavioral health organization for substance use and mental health. Cameron will focus more on the emotional side of addiction, while the Chief explains the physiological.
